As a lawyer, I’m an expert in a few things and real estate is not one of them. I only realized this after spending a year on Zillow, seeing a million homes on my own, and failing miserably. During that year, I also researched the local agents in case I wanted to go that route. I knew immediately upon meeting her that Jan was the one for me. In the beginning, my husband and I had conflicting ideas about what we were looking for, and wanted to see everything. Jan indulged us and showed us every home in which we expressed interest. Not once did we feel like we were bothering her with our numerous requests. Jan was able to figure out what we wanted in a home after just a few showings. She realized what we were looking for before we did. Case in point, our new home. I saw it early on in the process and quickly dismissed it because it wasn’t the size we initially wanted. After we honed in on our “must haves” she brought us back and it was love at second sight. We made an offer on the spot. Which brings me to her negotiating skills. She’s effective without being pushy, which I admire. She was able to manage our quirky personalities in a high-stress situation and get us in escrow for a price that made both parties happy. Our offer on the new home was contingent on the sale of ours, and after about a week on the market, we were in escrow there as well for a price just shy of the listing. I hear horror stories of escrow, but Jan and her team made it a quick and painless experience. I never thought buying a home could be so easy! Every day I wake up in awe that I own something so wonderful and have Jan to thank for it!
